What Online Psychiatric Medication Management Involves
Medication management is not simply renewing a prescription every few months. It is a structured clinical relationship in which your provider evaluates whether your current treatment is working, adjusts dosage when needed, monitors for side effects, and coordinates your psychiatric care with any other providers involved in your health.
According to HHS, telehealth is a well-established and effective model for delivering this type of ongoing psychiatric care – and for most patients, the clinical experience is comparable to in-person treatment.

FAQ
For the vast majority of patients and conditions, yes. Telehealth psychiatric care follows the same clinical standards as in-person visits. Your provider conducts the same comprehensive assessment, prescribes through the same process, and monitors your progress with the same frequency.
Yes, patients transferring from another provider can typically continue their current medication regimen following an initial evaluation. Bringing records from your previous provider is helpful, but not always required.
Most psychiatric medications – including antidepressants, mood stabilizers, and anti-anxiety medications – can be prescribed via telehealth. Stimulant medications such as Adderall, classified as Schedule II controlled substances, can also currently be prescribed via telehealth.
Medication management and psychotherapy are separate services, but Good Health Psych offers both. Many patients benefit from combining the two – consult a specialist to see if it is the right strategy for you.
The frequency depends on where you are in treatment. In the first weeks after starting a new medication or changing a dose, appointments are typically scheduled every two to four weeks – enough time to assess early response and catch any side effects before they become a problem. Once your treatment is stable, visits usually shift to every one to three months.
