My name is Summer Flynn, PMHNP-BC, and I am an experienced child, adolescent, and adult psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner here at Good Health Psych. I have worked in healthcare since 2011 in a variety of settings, including acute care, community health, and inpatient behavioral health, and graduated from Eastern Kentucky University in May 2022 with my Master of Science in Nursing. I am passionate about mental health and helping each patient live their best life.
At Good Health Psych, I diagnose and treat clients ages 5 and older for conditions such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, PTSD, and ADHD. My approach to providing mental health care is holistic, considering emotional, behavioral, physical, and spiritual well-being. I provide client-centered care that is gender-affirming and culturally sensitive, while creating a safe space for each client to work toward their mental health goals.
During an initial evaluation, I work to identify my patient’s symptoms, when they occur, and how they impact daily life, including in family and work relationships. I gather a behavioral health history, medical history, and information about any current or previous treatments. From there, I complete a diagnostic screening with my patient, and we discuss treatment options such as medication management, therapy, and lifestyle changes. I am currently accepting new patients and look forward to working with you.

How to Schedule Your Child's First Visit
- Reach out. Book online, fill out the appointment form, or call (718) 522-3600, Monday–Friday, 9 am–7 pm.
- Tell us about your child. A patient care coordinator will ask about your child’s age, the concerns you’ve noticed, your insurance, and your availability, then match your family with the right child and adolescent provider.
- Attend the evaluation together. A parent or legal guardian joins the first visit. The provider talks with you and your child, reviews school and medical history, and explains their recommendations and next steps.

FAQ
Look for a provider who works with your child’s age group, treats the concerns you’re seeing, and accepts your insurance. You can review our providers’ bios above, or call (718) 522-3600 and a coordinator will recommend a child and adolescent psychiatry provider at our Downtown Brooklyn office or online.
We see children from age 5 and adolescents up to age 17. At 18, patients can continue care with our adult psychiatry team, which makes the transition smoother.
A psychiatric provider can diagnose conditions and prescribe medication when needed. Consider a psychiatric evaluation if your child’s symptoms are persistent, getting worse, or affecting school, sleep, friendships, or family life. A provider can also help if therapy alone hasn’t helped enough. Many children benefit from both, and we can coordinate care with our psychotherapists.
Yes. A parent or legal guardian attends the first visit and stays involved in treatment decisions. As teens get older, providers often spend part of each visit with them alone to build trust, while keeping parents informed about the treatment plan and any safety concerns.
Not necessarily. Medication is one option among several. If your child’s provider recommends it, they’ll explain the benefits, possible side effects, and alternatives, start with a careful dose, and monitor progress at regular follow-up visits. You decide together.
Yes. Our providers assess ADHD using parent input, your child’s history, and information from teachers when available. If ADHD is diagnosed, the treatment plan may include medication, behavioral strategies, and support with school accommodations.
